Many universities in UK offer several scholarships of different types. These scholarships are specifically designed for international students at postdoctoral or undergraduate level. Generally, any scholarship for university here is based on academic merit.
Some of the well-known university scholarships offered to a UK student or an international student under an international program are as follows:
- 9/11 Scholarship
This scholarship covers full-time study funding to a master’s level or an undergraduate degree at reputable higher education institutes in Scotland, England, Northern Ireland, and Wales. It encompasses tuition fee, travel to and from the student’s country residence, and stipend for the living accommodation and expenses of the student while in UK. However, this scholarship is excludes courses in nursery, primary or secondary education and military education. - Alban Scholarship Award
The Alban scholarship for university is intended for Latin American nationals from 18 countries who wish to pursue their postgraduate studies in Europe. To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants are required to fill out its application form accurately, leaving no blanks to avoid rejection.
- Scholarship from the Anglo-Jewish Association or AJA
This scholarship is offered to Jewish students who are financially incapable of financing their education at UK universities. AJA provides scholarships and bursaries to those who would like to study in specialized fields such as in science and medicine.
- The Beit Trust
The Trust provides scholarship for university for the research of graduates living in Zambia, Malawi, or Zimbabwe who are studying at one of the universities in UK, South Africa, or Ireland. Among the types of scholarships it provides are Beit-Leeds Scholarship (BL), Beit-Reading Scholarship (BRG), and Beit-Rhodes Scholarship (BRU). These grants cover costs and fees, personal allowance, and other allowances such as travel or printing.
- British Chevening Scholarships
These scholarships are awarded to students across the globe to pay the education cost of students taking up one-year post-graduate degree programs. They are aimed at supporting students who already have great impact in academics and who are motivated to further their educational level and improve their careers.
- British Federation of Women Graduates or BFWG
The scholarships offered by the federation are available for women in their third year of doctoral degrees or for part-time students at an equivalent degree who are enrolled at any university in Wales, England, or Scotland.
- British Universities Brunei Association
The Association offers financial aid through scholarships for Bruneians at all education levels in UK universities. Recipient of such scholarships are offered to students under the categories of the Ministry of Defence scholars, shell scholars, and Sultan’s scholars. Among the requirements for these scholarships include the state of being a Brunein citizenship, certain academic criteria, a minimum of a second class honors degree in post-graduate courses, passing IELTS score, and references.
- Fulbright Scholarship of the U.S.-UK Fulbright Commission
This scholarship for university is granted to the American students who wish to study in UK in any field of study area. The Commission also offers the UK Fulbright Awards Programme in three primary categories including Post-graduate Student Awards, Summer Institutes for younger scholars, and Scholars and Fellows Awards.
